Event Schedule This year’s event is broken up into two days...but, they have the exact same schedule for each day. The schedule overview for each day is as follows: 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM Player Check-In 9:00 AM – 9:20 AM Opening Ceremonies & National Anthem 9:30 AM – 9:50 AM First Round-Robin Games 12:00PM – 4:00PM Be The Match Bone Marrow Donor Drive 2:00 PM – 2:25 PM Mission Hour 2:25 PM – 2:30 PM Chuck-A-Puck Raffle 2:45 PM – 4:45 PM Skills Challenge 6:15 PM – 6:35 PM Final Round-Robin Games 6:50 PM – 7:10 PM Championship Games 7:15 PM – 7:30 PM Lori Ann Romig Memorial Cup Presentation Parking The rink should be considerably less busy this year during the event and parking shouldn't be nearly as big of a challenge. Please use the rink's front, side and back parking lots completely before exploring other options. Check-In Check-in will be at the front entrance at Iceoplex starting at 8am. At the check-in table, you will receive a bag containing your tournament jersey, a FOWC water bottle, a bottle of drinking water and the event program. Waivers All participants and volunteers must sign the FOWC and USA Hockey Waivers. To avoid the paperwork mess at check-in, they have been sent to all participants via email. If you missed that email, you can sign them here: FOWC Waiver (All players and volunteers): https://cudasign.com/s/oWvoLBf8 USA Hockey Waiver (All players and on-ice volunteers): https://cudasign.com/s/20F0gwwW If you're unable to sign them electronically, we will have limited hard copies available at check-in for signature. Locker Rooms Locker Room assignments will be posted on the digital signs and the glass doors between the lobby and the rink. Locker Rooms will be inspected prior to the start of the event and team captains will be held accountable for the condition of the locker rooms throughout the day and at the end of the event. Locker rooms do not lock, so please consider leaving all valuables locked in your vehicles or at home, as the rink and Face Off With Cancer will not be liable for any loss or damages. Opening Ceremonies All players are requested on the Olympic Ice at 9:00 AM for the National Anthem, opening remarks and a ceremonial puck drop to get the event started. Team Photos Your team photo will be taken in front of the net on the ice surface you are playing on right before your first game of the day. Please be on the ice early enough to snap these photos quickly. Photos will be made available on our website and Facebook pages during the event. Feel free to tag yourself and download a copy. Jerseys All players will be given a BLACK Face Off With Cancer Tournament Jersey to use during the event when you are the AWAY team (think old school hockey). However, because of how the schedule worked out, the #1 team in each division will always be the home team and therefor won’t be able to wear their free FOWC jerseys. So, those teams will be getting WHITE jerseys and bringing their own dark jerseys for the away games. To simplify this, the following teams should bring dark jerseys from home: Free Agents, Fighting Unicorns, Alley Cats, Believe, Hardcore Fitness Hockey and Backcheck OR GO HOME. Everyone Else, bring a light jersey. This got crazy complicated...lesson learned. We’ll do better next year! Your jerseys have the FOWC tribute hashtag of #ifaceoff4 on the back. Please use the markers provided to write the names of who you’re skating for on the back to pay tribute. Mission Hour The 2:00 PM hour will be used for the Chairman and President Remarks, the presentation of the Mayor’s Cup for top fundraising team and the Chuck-A-Puck rally. All players are requested on the Olympic Rink for these festivities. Spectators Bring them! The more, the better! Spectators are encouraged to watch the event from the Olympic Rink stands or through the glass surrounding the rink. Food & Beverages The Crossbar & Grill will be open during all tournament hours for your food and beverage needs and will be donating 20% of all proceeds on all food and non-alcoholic beverages back to Face Off With Cancer. Additionally, there are several places to eat nearby. Pro Shop The LD&C Sports Pro Shop will be open during tournament hours for skate sharpening, basic repairs and equipment needs. Tournament Rules USA Hockey Rules & Regulations will be followed with the following exceptions: - Goals will not result in a center-ice face-off. Instead, the team having been scored upon will assume possession of the puck from their net and continue play (pick-up style). - Minor penalties will not result in a man advantage or face-off. Instead, the puck will change possession (if applicable) to the team against which the penalty was conducted and that team will be rewarded a single penalty shot at the end of the game. - Major penalties will result in the removal of the player for the remainder of that game. - Accrual of 3 or more penalties in a single game will result in removal from the tournament. - Slap shots will not be permitted due to the confined nature of cross-ice hockey. Shots taken with a back swing that is higher than waist level will be considered a slap shot and will result in a minor penalty. Alcohol Policy Outside alcoholic beverages are not permitted at Iceoplex Simi Valley. All alcohol consumed during event hours must be purchased from the Crossbar Bar & Grill inside of Iceoplex and consumed within the facility. Alcohol from the Crossbar will be permitted to be taken into the locker rooms, however it may not leave the facility. Locker rooms will be patrolled for outside alcohol. If it is discovered, the captain of the offending team will be issued a warning and asked to remove the alcohol from the facility. If it is discovered a second time, that team captain will be removed from the tournament. Conduct Policy Fighting, foul play, unsportsmanlike / disorderly conduct and intoxication will not be tolerated at any level of play on or off the ice. This is a charity event and all participants are expected to conduct themselves in the spirit thereof. The Bottom Line The event coordinator(s) reserve the right to remove any player from the tournament and/or facility at their discretion without refund of registration or raised funds. More Details...
