Well...the Team Registration Deadline (7/2/16) has passed and I'm extremely excited to announce that 2 months out from the event we have 34 of 36 available team spots filled! The women's division is completely full with 6 teams and the open divisions (A through E) have 28 of 30 teams registered!
I wanted to take a moment and thank you all personally for taking the initiative to step up and captain a team for this event. I can personally attest to the role being a thankless job sometimes, but without Team Captains, this event would never continue to grow as it has.
That being said, one of my goals this year is better communication to the captains and the players PRIOR to the event. This memo is the first of a series that you will receive between now and the event with information and instructions. So, here goes....
Player Registration Deadline - July 30th, 2016
Now that you've registered your teams, please complete your rosters and have the remainder of your team register and begin fundraising by July 30th, 2016. We recommend 6-8 skaters and a single goalie for each team. Some have played with less, others with more...but having at least two lines of 3 players can be a huge relief. If you've never participated in this event, let me tell you...20 minutes of no-stop, cross-ice, 3-on-3 hockey can catch up to you real fast!
We do have a few players who have registered as free agents and are looking for teams. If you are having trouble rounding out your roster, let me know and we'll get you somebody.
Once all of your players have registered and provided us with their USA Hockey Adult Player Rating #'s, we do a little math and rank the teams top to bottom based on a number of factors (mean, trimmed mean, high, low, spread, sum and standard deviations of combined player ratings). Once we have the teams ranked, we will split them into divisions A through E. We expect to have this completed in the first week of August.
The game slot schedule has been finalized and will be published on the event web site later this week. Once the division assignments have been completed, we will fill in the team names and the game schedule will be set. Again, expect the first week of August for this to come out. But, as the registration page said, each division will play all of their games in one day. Divisions D, E and Womens will play Saturday, August 27th, 2016 and Divisions A, B and C will play Sunday, August 28th, 2016.
